Transforming Young Girls into Tomorrow’s Leaders

Educating girls on methods for venting their emotional pain through healthy
outlets.

POSITIONING

Positioning the girls towards positive change to break generational norms and
establish healthier ways of coping.

MOTIVATING

Motivating young girls in establishing goals and action plans for achieving those goals.

NUTURING

Nurturing talents and personal growth by inspiring girls to believe in their
abilities.

The Epidemic

The Epidemic

According to the 2011 Dove Research: The Truth about Beauty survey; 72% of young girls feel
pressure to find a way to feel good about their self. This means that our society is producing a
population of young women, of whom the vast majorities have poor self-esteem and self-confidence.

These young girls are being delivered into the world without the emotional skills necessary to
overcome hardship and become the leaders of tomorrow.

Mission Statement

The Mission

Mission Statement: Helping young girls overcome emotional obstacles and embrace their worth in
order to reach their full potential. Strong, stable and secure girls are not born, they’re raised;
however, we live in a world where too often girls are not receiving the tools they need at home to
grow into confident successful women.

EGL PUD (Partners Uplifting Our Daughters) Inc. is
responding to a sense of responsibility to pay it forward. The EGL PUD mentorship program
targets middle school and high school age girls and is designed to promote the development of
literacy and emotional wellness. The main goal of the program is to help young girls create a new
mindset on their self-worth through creative expression coupled with building a strong female bond they can keep with them as they develop emotionally and physically.

Our Vision

The Vision

Vision: To improve self-esteem in young girls. To produce a population of young women who are
more confident to achieve their goals. Powerful girls grow up feeling secure. They learn to take
action, making positive choices about their own lives and doing positive things for others. They think critically about the world around them. They express their feelings and acknowledge the feelings and thoughts of others in caring ways. Powerful girls feel good about themselves and grow up with a “can-do” attitude. Of course, strong girls may (like all of us) have times of insecurity and self-doubt, but these feelings aren’t paralyzing because the girls have learned to work through their problems. Powerful girls will grow up to lead full, valuable lives.

Empowerment & Entrepreneurship Workshops

Through the EGL PUD mentoring workshops women of EGL team up with schools, and agencies around the country to conduct youth empowerment and entrepreneurship workshops.

The topics are approached through interactive and creative activities that the girls can relate to and have fun with. These women provide real example of young minority women breaking barriers and working together to achieve success. The panelists provide a sense of belonging, understanding, and support while also teaching a message of strength, power and resiliency. The girls leave the event feeling empowered and capable of reaching their goals. It is a cathartic experience for the girls as well as the panelists.
